About Sid

My career began as a teenager when I landed a job at a local radio station. I was taught voice control diction and radio production. After High School and while attending college I worked at another radio station. In the early 70’s I was hired by South Carolina TV station. My job included shooting editing and on Camera reporting. Later I began freelancing and shot news for several networks, produced commercials, documentaries and industrials.

In the 80’s I began to working on low budget movies and made for TV projects. It was at that time I moved from camera to doing location sound. At the time there were few sound mixers and I enjoyed recording sound. I was fortunate to third for a number of New York and LA mixers who taught me the ropes.

By the late eighties and the height of the made-for-TV movie craze I was busy working on many projects. The 90’s saw a decrease of made-for-TV products and I was back doing sound on documentaries, commercials and an occasional film, I also did second unit sound on The Fugitive, and second unit on a TV series shot in Wilmington NC.

In all, I have mixed more than 30 dramatic narrative projects, dozens of documentaries,. Including work with the History Channel, Discovery, TLC and National Geographic. My network experience includes interviews with 4 US presidents, and show such as Dateline, 60 Minutes, and 48 Hours. In summer 2012 I was hired as second unit mixer on Hunger Games, a film directed by Gary Ross released by Lions Gate.
